History
He was a former pet. He was transferred to CPM in July of 1997.

Fun Facts
California King Snakes have a very high tolerance to rattlesnake venom. Although they are not totally immune, they can withstand multiple rattlesnake bites without any effect.

Wild Diet
Feeds largely, although not exclusively, on other snakes; also eats rodents, birds, and lizards, and can consume rattlesnakes with no apparent ill effect.

Museum Diet
Mice and small rats.

Life Span
In the Wild: 10 to 15 years
In Captivity: 15 to 20 years

Habitat
Varied but normally associated with rockier outcrops, bushy semi-desert areas, and brushy hillsides. Also found in pine forests.

Range
Baja California north to Oregon and southern Utah and east to Arizona.
